Things People Ask
Are they comfortable?
Yes, they are comfortable. These are light, flexible, and form to your feet. We know when you hear “rope sandals” it sounds like you’re about to strap a ship’s rigging to your feet, but that’s not what this is. Break them in, and they’ll become your go-to pair.
Still unsure? Here are some reviews:
“I am always wearing my Cordas whether I am hiking in Zion or soaking in Meadow hotsprings. They are so unique and comfortable, they take you places you can only dream of! My cordas have traveled far, and are so love worn” — @Emilyekker
“I bought my first pair of cordas about two years ago and they have been steady companions on numerous hiking, camping and day to day adventures. Definitely some of the comfiest shoes I’ve owned.” — @_hannah_jane_
How should they feel when I first wear them?
The ideal fit is snug — not stretched, not loose. They will stretch about a finger width and start to mold to your feet over the first few wears.
You might notice the rope texture underfoot at first and that’s normal. It softens fast, and your feet adjust even faster.
Will they stay on my feet?
Yes, they’ll stay on your feet. That open toe look is intentional. We didn’t skip structure, we just ditched the usual. The reward is a barefoot feel with a secure fit.
Still nervous? That’s why the Wanderer style exists — it will hold your toe for you.
Are Corda sandals true to size?
Yes. We use standard U.S. sizing. If you’re ever a half size, round up.
To double check, place your heel against a wall and measure to your longest toe. Compare your length to our size chart.
Still not sure? Message us and we’ll help you get it right.
Can I wear them in water?
Yes, Cordas can handle whatever water you can find. What they don’t handle is staying wet. If you’re pulling out your towel, it’s time to dry out your sandals.
Staying wet = getting smelly. And if that smell sets in, it’s permanent. Washing won’t fix it — we’ve tried. Resist the urge to toss them in a bag. Get them in the sun and let them dry with you.
How do I clean them?
Cordas are machine or hand washable with soap. The most important part is drying them.
Do not put them in a dryer, it's a death sentence.
Dry them immediately and completely. See the water section. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
What if the rope gets fuzzy?
If you see fraying on the straps or edges, just melt it back with a lighter flick (carefully). It’s what we do to our own pairs. Quick and clean.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
U.S. Orders: We offer size exchanges. You cover return shipping to us, we cover shipping the new pair back to you.
International: We don’t offer official returns due to shipping costs. But if you’re not happy, email us — we’ll do our best to help.
How much is shipping?
Flat rate, no surprises:
$5 U.S.
$10 international
$12 Switzerland (we don’t know why either)
Same price no matter how many pairs you order — ship one or five, it’s the same.
Also, yes, Switzerland costs more. We don’t know why either. If you’re Swiss, feel free to explain (or find a buddy across the border).
When will I receive my sandals?
We ship from the U.S. using USPS First Class or Priority Mail. Most orders arrive within a week from the day they ship.
International orders travel via DHL and GlobalMail, and usually take 2–3 weeks to arrive, depending on your country.
We’re a small team (think two humans, not a warehouse), and we occasionally head off-grid. If we’re out camping when you order, your sandals might ship a couple days later than usual — but we’ll send them out as soon as we’re back.
Thanks for your patience — and for keeping up the good.
What currency are your prices in?
All prices are in U.S. dollars. If you’re ordering internationally, your payment method will handle the conversion.
How handmade are they?
Every pair is made by hand in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
We cut the soles from recycled sheets using tile templates and razor blades. The rope is melted into flat sheets — one rope at a time — then shaped and strapped onto a foot mold by hand.
It’s not fast. It’s not automated. It’s human-made, start to finish.
